TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Ali Jannati and Russian Deputy Culture MinisterGrigory Pertorvich Ivliev in a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday underlined the need for the further expansion of bilateral ties and mutual cooperation, specially in cultural fields.During the meeting in Tehran today, Jannati and Ivliev discussed different cultural issues, including the joint production of a documentary and translating more than 10 Iranian literary works into Russian.
During the 1960s, Shahnameh (the national epic of Iran) was translated into Russian and Molavis Masnavi has recently been translated to Russian in twi volumes, which has received a wide welcome in Moscow," the Iranian minister said.
"Even people in Moscow's metro stations have access to these works, he added.
We also discussed and reached an agreement on the production of joint documentary films, Jannati added.
The Russian deputy culture minister, for his part, said that his country is ready to host Iranian experts and translator.
Iranian writers are sent to Russia to introduce their literary works to the Russian people, Ivliev added.
Iran and Russia have recently boosted efforts to develop their bilateral ties in cultural fields.
Russian Deputy Culture Minister Andrei Busygin and Head of Culture and Islamic Communications Organization of Iran Mohammad Baqer Khorramshad in a meeting in Moscow in June 2012 explored avenues for the further bolstering of the two countries' cultural relations.
The two sides emphasized the need for broader bilateral cultural cooperation, referring to the two nations interest in each others cultures, literatures, and arts.
Busygin referred to the special status of the Iranian culture and literature among the Russian people, arguing, We are pursuing the policy of expanding relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran seriously.
