The appeal request of Iranian blogger Dr. Majid Bazrafkan who had been sentenced to 91 days in prison on charge of insulting Iran's Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeqi Amoli Larijani has been denied.

Bazrafkan had in his blog criticized Judiciary�s approach towards advocates of the Islamic Establishment, accusing the Judiciary of being lax with elements of the sedition movement that formed following Iran's presidential elections in 2009.

After the 2009 presidential elections, riots erupted and continued in the country, especially in the capital, Tehran, despite government assurances about the transparency of the vote.

Bazrafkan also lashed out at the Judiciary because of harsh treatment of forces loyal to Iran's Islamic Establishment, arresting and putting them on trial as well as banning pro-establishment blogs.

This is while Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said during his meeting with Iranian university students that the country�s revolutionary youth should not be dealt with harshly.

�Of course the Judiciary has [its own] arguments regarding this issue that if presented, would probably resolve some ambiguities but I also believe that critical comments of a student should not be treated harshly,� the Leader said.

This is not the first time someone has been arrested and sentenced to prison because of publishing critical posts; among them are bloggers such as Amir-Hassan Saqqa, Hossein Qadiani, Amir-Hossein Sabeti and Meysam Nili who are all long-time principalists and advocates of Iran's Islamic Establishment.
