New York, Oct 10, IRNA - Irans permanent ambassador to UN warned that international trafficker have chosen new paths for smuggling, including the sea, asking the West and international bodies to feel more responsible in campaign against their trafficking through golden crescent.
Speaking at a session of the Third Committee of the United Nations on Prevention of Organized Crime and Narcotic Drugs Control, Gholam-Hossein Dehqani pointed to the advancement of technology in the world, and said, The modern centers involved in campaign against organized crime use facilities that are technologically advanced.
He also pointed to child abuse through the Internet and new types of narcotic drugs are new serious concerns of the international society.
Dehqani referred to the moves made by the Islamic Republic of Iran in campaign against narcotic drugs trafficking in which more than 30,000 police forces are involved today and more than 10,000 of them have thus far either got martyred, or paralyzed, which is the reason why the traffickers have chosen new paths for their illicit trade.
He also referred to the broad-scale cooperation of Iran with the UN Office for Drug Control and Campaign Against Organized Crime, highlighting the western countries responsibilities in international campaign against narcotic drugs trafficking.
