Iranian ambassador invites Pakistani leader to explore cooperation

Islamabad, Oct 9,IRNA - The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan, Alireza Haghighian Wednesday met with Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervaiz Khattak, and invited him to visit Iran and explore cooperation in various fields.
The Iranian ambassador also called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah in Peshawar and discussed matters of mutual interests particularly to the prospects in this province for further consolidating the bonds of brotherhood between the two brotherly countries.

He was also accompanied by Peshawar based Consul Governor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Darvishvand.

In his meeting with the Chief Minister, the Iranian envoy offered cooperation in energy, natural resources, education, health insurance, agriculture and health sectors, an official statement said.

The Chief Minister accepted the invitation and said he will soon visit Iran to witness Irans development. He said his province will explore ways to enhance cooperation with Iran in various sectors.

The ambassador also extended invitations to Mr Khattak on behalf of the governors of Shiraz and Isfahan provinces.

The Chief Minister told the Iranian ambassador that Pakistanis are on the same page on good relations with the brotherly Iran, adding that both countries have helped each other in difficult times.

Mr Khattak said that Pakistan and Iran support each other at international forums which reflect strong ties and a common stand on important issues. He said the people and government of Pakistan respect Tehrans principled approach on international issues.

The Chief Minister highlighted objectives of his government and said that he will need cooperation from friendly countries to implement agenda for the welfare of the people. He said his government will take advantage of Irans experiences and its offer of cooperation.

Khattak also announced formation of a committee to look at Irans offer for bilateral cooperation. Provincial economic advisor, Rafaqatullah Babar will head the committee.
