Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA -- Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Valiollah Seif, heading a high-ranking economic delegation, arrived in Washington to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in the US capital.
Seif will take part in the joint IMF-WBG meeting in Washington on October 11-13.
The CBI governor will also hold talks with central bankers and senior officials of other member-states on the sidelines of the IMF-WBG meeting.
The annual meetings, which generally take place in September-October, have customarily been held in Washington for two consecutive years and in another member country in the third year.
The Board of Governors of the WBG and the Boards of Governors of the IMF normally meet once a year to discuss the work of their respective institutions.
The Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) each year bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.
