Speaker blasts US adventurist policies in region

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iran's parliament speaker blamed the US adventurist policies in the region as a major cause for the expansion of terrorism.

Your adventurist policies in the region have helped nurture and expand terrorism; what is going on in Syria can clearly set apart those who defend sending aid to terrorists and those who oppose them, said Ali Larijani, in comments directed at US officials, on Sunday evening in a banquet in his honor by the Iranians residing in Serbia.

While Iran pushes for reforms in Syria, it believes that they can not be carried out through sending arms and supporting terrorist groups, added Larijani.

A large number of politicians have realized that reforms cannot be implemented through acts of terrorism.

This comes as Russian diplomatic sources said on Sunday that the suspected August chemical weapons attack in the Syrian capitals suburbs was carried out by a Saudi-backed rerrorist group.

BILATERAL TIES BETWEEN IRAN AND SERBIA

The Iranian parliament speaker said that Iran and Serbia have enjoyed a good level of relations and cooperation in cultural and economic fields for a long time and that the Iranian nations viewpoints on Serbia is quite positive.

Some countries have had adventurists acts towards Iran or violated our rights, but there has never been any painful incidence in Iran-Serbia relations, and therefore there are different grounds for bilateral cooperation, said Larijani.

The speaker complained about the current level of the two countries relations despite the good potentials for better ties, and called for expansion of relations between the two countries in all fields.

Along with the Iranian embassy, there is also an Iranian cultural center located in Belgrade. An Iranian film festival is held annually at the Filmography Museum in Belgrade.

After Serbia, where the Iranian parliament speaker will have meetings with that countrys parliamentarians, Larijani would head for Geneva, where he is to attend the opening session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on Tuesday.

His last leg of tour of three European countries would take Larijani to Croatia.
