TEHRAN, Sep. 29 (MNA) The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran has announced that six new airlines have recently received permission to start operation.CAO director Hamidreza Pahlavani said that the permissions have been issued within the past month, according to the MehrNews Agency.
Earlier this month, Pahlavani said that the organization will liberalize ticket prices in a bid to encouragedomestic airlinesto improve services.
He added that the decision will take effect by the next four months.
In May, Pahlavani announced that two new Iranian airlines will start operation in the currentIranian calendaryear, which began on March 21.
A number of planes will be added to the national fleet in the current year, he said, adding that 19 planes were added to the fleet last year, he added.
In March, Pahlavani said that Iran has added two Airbus 340 planes, three Fokker 100 planes, and two other planes of different model to its national air fleet.
He added that currently 18 airlines are in operation in Iran.
