Iranian athletes have continued their superb performance at the third edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Indonesia, and bagged two more gold medals.
On Thursday, 28-year-old Iranian sportsman Ehsan Haddadi contested in the mens discus throwing competitions at the Jaka Baring Athletic Stadium of the Indonesian city of Palembang, and won a gold medal with a 66.03-meter throw.
Iranian male discus thrower Mohammad Samimi claimed the silver medal with a throw of 65.19 meters.
Speaking after mens discus throwing contests, Haddadi said that he will offer his gold medal to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
Also on Thursday, Iranian female shot putter Leila Rajabi snatched the gold in the women's competitions.
The 30-year-olds winning throw of 17.02 meters came in the second round.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Arzandeh of Iran brought home the silver medal in the long jump with a top effort of 7.70 meters at the Jaka Baring Athletic Stadium.
The 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games opened in the Indonesian city of Palembang on September 22, and will wrap up on October 1.
A total of 88 athletes are representing Iran in the competitions. Athletes from 55 countries are in action across 13 sports.
They are competing in archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, football, karate, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and wushu.
