Envoy reiterates Iran's full support for peaceful settlement of Syrian crisis

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Ambassador to Damascus Mohammad Reza Ra'ouf Sheibani opposed any form of military intervention in Syria, and stressed that the only way to end bloodshed in the Muslim country is utilizing diplomatic and peaceful ways.

"We believe that Syrians are capable of solving their problems and the best solution is for the sides in the conflict to sit at the negotiating table and to reach a consensus on ... determining the future fate of the country, the Iranian diplomat said on Saturday.

He said that, since the beginning of the crisis in the Muslim country, Iran has stressed the necessity of inclusive negotiations between all sides involved in the conflict.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots to topple President Bashar al-Assad, who is well known in the world for his anti-Israeli stances.

In recent days, the US, Israel and France have adopted the rhetoric of war against Syria over allegations that the Syrian government was behind a recent chemical attack near Damascus.
