Arak, Markazi Prov, Sept 17, IRNA Russian ambassador to Tehran said that strengthening economic ties and boost in the volume of bilateral trade exchange are essential for both Iran and Russia.
In a meeting with officials of this central province on Monday, Levan Dzhagaryan said that familiarity with abilities and economic and trade potentials of the Iranian and Russian provinces play a key role in strengthening of trade exchanges between the two nations.
Iran-Russia trade exchanges stood at dlrs 2.4 billion last year, he said, regretting that the figure has decreased this year.
Referring to the meeting between President Hassan Rohani and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Bishkek, the ambassador said the two leaders underlined the need for further expansion of bilateral economic cooperation.
He reiterated that the meeting opened a new chapter in bilateral ties.
Dzhagaryan and his accompanying delegation are to meet with provincial governor general and local businessmen and industrialists on Tuesday.
