Rouhani confers with Afghan president

Bishkek, Sept 12, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday conferred with his Afghan counterpart President Hamed Karzai on the sidelines of the 13th Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Bishkek.






In addition to reviewing Tehran-Kabul bilateral ties, they discussed the most important regional and international issues, IRNA reported.

Stressing the need for further development of ties between the two friendly neighboring states, they explored avenues for promoting mutual cooperation.
Rohami arrived in Bishkek on Thursday morning to attend the 13th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit at the head of high-ranking delegation.

Earlier, he held talks with the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kyrgyz Presidnet Almazbek Atambayev.

He is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his two-day stay in Bishkek.
SCO is an intergovernmental organization which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
Iran along with Afghanistan, India, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status in SCO.
