TEHRAN (Tasnim) President Hassan Rouhani who is in Bishkek to attend the summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization emphasized the importance of the conference -- especially in view of the prevailing situation in the region.
President Rouhani made the remarks at Imam Khomeini International Airport on Thursday morning before leaving Tehran for Bishkek to attend the SCO summit.
The Iranian president also said that he would present Irans stands on major international and regional issues at Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The Presidents visit to Bishkek is taking place at an official invitation by his Kyrgyz counterpart Almazbek Atambayev.
Kyrgyzstan holds the current rotating presidency of the SCO.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is a political, economic and military organization which was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and Mongolia are observer states of the SCO.
