Iran select Karate team crowned in Thailand competitions

Iranian mens select karate team has demonstrated impressive performances at the Thailand Open Karate-Do Championship 2013, and lifted the trophy of the sports event.
Iran stood first with a total of six medals, including three gold, two silver and one bronze.

Majid Hosseinnia and Hassan Beigi of Iran overcame their rivals in the minus 55-kilogram and minus 75-kilogram weight categories of mens kumite competitions in the Nimibutr Nation Stadium in the Thai capital city of Bangkok.

Maziar Elhami also snatched a gold medal in the mens 84-kilogram kumite contests.

Morteza Daman Afshar brought home a silver medal in men's minus 84-kilogram kumite competitions.

Moreover, Mehran Qorbanalipour exhibited an exciting individual kata performance and grabbed a silver medal.

Valiullah Mirzaei snatched a bronze medal in the mens minus 55 kilogram kumite contests.

Thailand Open Karate-Do Championship 2013 opened in Bangkok on September 7 and wrapped up on September 10.

The sports event brought together more than 200 athletes from nine countries, including Bangladesh, Brunei, India, Iran, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
