Cement, clinker exports register 43.5% rise in 5 months

Tehran, Sept 8, IRNA Cement and clinker exports showed an increase of 43.5 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), compared to the figure for the corresponding period last year.
Secretary of the State Cement Industry Employers Guild Association Abdolreza Sheykhan said that some 8,064,000 tons of cement and clinker, inccluding 6,525,000 tons of cement and 1,539,000 tons of clinker, were exported during the same period.

The total cement exports during July-23-August 22 stood at 1,004,000, showing a surge of 18.7 percent compared to the figure for the corresponding period last year, he said, noting that clinker exports during the same period demonstratedan increase of 18.5 percent.

Cement output during the first five months of the current Iranian year reached 31,475,334 tons, showing an increase of three percent compared to the figure for the same period last year, Sheykhan said, noting that clinker production stood at 30,874,000 tons, registering a surge of three percent during the same period.

According to the official statistics, over 13,648,000 tons of cement and clinker were exported abroad last year, with Iraq as the major destination for the exported items.

It is predicted that cement exports will hit 18,500,000 tons this year (started March 21), meeting the target of 5-million-ton increase compared to the production capacity last year.

Some 27 types of cements are currently produced in Iran.
