US, Israel seek Mideast favorable to West: Iranian MP

An Iranian parliamentarian says the US and Israel try to destabilize the Middle East in a bid to turn it into a region favorable to the West.
The lackeys of the US and Israel seek to stir up insecurity in the region to create a Middle East which is favorable to the West, and through this [act of] sedition they seek to provide a safe haven for the Zionist regime [of Israel], said Hossein Sobhani-Nia, who sits on the Presiding Board of Irans Majlis.

He said the US and Israel seek to add to the complications in the Middle East and curtail Irans political influence in the region and across the world.

Pointing to the developments in Egypt, Sobhani-Nia said that the Egyptian revolution has not yet failed, but certain US-Israeli currents in the region seek to abort it.

He stressed that Iran will do its utmost to protect the anti-Israeli resistance front as well as the wave of Islamic Awakening.

Egypt has been the scene of increasing violence since the military ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July. Morsi was elected president on June 24 following the overthrow of former dictator Hosni Mubarak.

The army-appointed government has launched a bloody crackdown on Morsi supporters and arrested more than 2,000 Brotherhood members.

Hundreds of people have lost their lives in the violence between Morsi supporters and the security forces so far.
