TEHRAN (FNA)- A prominent Iranian legislator once again underlined Irans support for a political solution to the Syrian crisis, and said that Israel will be the main loser of a possible US attack on Syria.
Chairman of the parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour in Beirut on Tuesday.
The first loser of this crisis will be the Zionist regime, Boroujerdi said.
During the meeting also attended by Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Qazanfar Roknabadi, the two sides discussed the latest regional issues, specially the Syrian crisis.
we shared common stances on security of the region, Lebanon and Syria as well as the US threats, the senior Iranian lawmaker told reporters after his meeting with the Lebanese foreign minister.
He underlined that all the regional countries should try to avoid a big disaster (US military strike on Syria) from taking place, and said, We hope that as the US President has avoided a hasty move on Syria, the US congress will also act logically in this regard.
In relevant remarks, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has also warned of the dire consequences of any military intervention in Syria for the region, and said the US will certainly be severely harmed by pursuing warmongering policies against the Muslim country.
The US threats and possible intervention in Syria is a disaster for the region and if such an act is done, certainly, the Americans will sustain damage like when they interfered in Iraq and Afghanistan, Ayatollah Khamenei said in a meeting with members of the new Iranian cabinet in Tehran last week.
He cautioned the US and its allies that their military intervention in Syria would yield no result but blazing fire and increasing nations hatred from them.
Ayatollah Khamenei warned the US and its allies that "starting this fire will be like a spark in a large store of gunpowder, with unclear and unspecified outcomes and consequences".
