Rouhani, Putin meeting in Kyrgyzstan of great significance, envoy

Dushanbe, Sept 1, IRNA Iranian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Ali Najafi said the future meeting of President Hassan Rohani and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Bishkek will be of great significance for the two nations.
Talking to IRNA, Najafi referred to Iran and Russia as two influential countries in regional and international arenas.

He added that the first meeting of the two presidents will be held on the sideline of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit slated for September 13, 2013 in Bishkek.

During his visit, President Rohani is to address the summit and will hold talks with senior officials of the participating countries including his Kyrgyz and Chinese counterparts, Najafi said.

Presence of influential countries that are members of the United Nation Security Council, such as Russia and China, in the summit will enhance the international importance of the Shanghai organization, the ambassador said.

Iran, along with Afghanistan, India, Mongolia, and Pakistan have an observer status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an intergovernmental organization that was founded in 2001 by leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
