Iranian MPs to convene tomorrow to review US possible attack on Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Parliament is slated to study a possible US attack on Syria in a session of its National Security and Foreign Policy Commission on Sunday, a senior legislator announced on Saturday.

The National Security and Foreign Policy Commission will review the latest developments of Syria and Lebanon in its session tomorrow afternoon, the commissions Vice-Chairman Mansour Haqiqatpour told FNA on Saturday.

He noted that representatives of the Iranian Armed Forces and foreign ministry will also take part in the tomorrow meeting.

The US and other western countries have adopted the rhetoric of war against Syria over allegations that the Syrian government was behind a recent chemical attack near Damascus.

The call for military strike intensified after the militants operating inside Syria and the foreign-backed Syrian opposition claimed on August 21 that hundreds had been killed in a government chemical attack on militant strongholds in the Damascus suburbs of Ain Tarma, Zamalka and Jobar. The Syrian government has strongly denied the claim, accusing the militants of the attack.
