Azeri Navy commander to visit Tehran: Iran envoy

Irans Ambassador to Azerbaijan says Azeri Navy Commander Shahin Sultanov is due to visit the Islamic Republic.
Mohsen Pak-Ayeen said on Saturday that Sultanov is due to arrive in Tehran on Sunday upon an invitation by Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari.
The visit reflects the depth of trust and mutual respect between the two countries and indicates the two countries interest in maintaining the security and stability of the Caspian Sea, Pak-Ayeen added.
The Iranian ambassador expressed hope that the three-day visit of the Azerbaijani commander would yield positive results.

In mid-March, during a meeting with visiting Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev, former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for the enhancement of Tehran-Baku relations.

Abiyev, for his part, said the warm relations between Iran and Azerbaijan cannot be disrupted and expressed hope Tehran-Baku cooperation would further expand.

Also on February 24, in a meeting with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, Secretary of Irans Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili underlined the importance of strengthening mutual security cooperation to serve regional interests.
