President calls for regional peace and closer Iran-Armenia ties

The Iran Project : President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Sunday, emphasized the importance of regional peace and stability, particularly among neighboring countries.

According to The Iran Project, During the discussion, Pezeshkian and Pashinyan exchanged views on bilateral relations and recent developments in the Caucasus region, including the historic peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The president expressed satisfaction with the Yerevan-Baku treaty, congratulating both nations on ending four decades of conflict. “Iran has always welcomed the establishment of peace, convergence, and stability in the region, especially among neighbors, while preserving their territorial integrity,” he said.

Pezeshkian also praised the strong Iran-Armenia relationship and urged officials from both sides to work toward elevating their cooperation across various fields.

Prime Minister Pashinyan, in turn, commended Iran's role in facilitating the peace agreement with Azerbaijan. He affirmed Armenia's commitment to continuing negotiations and consultations to implement the agreement and strengthen ties with regional countries.

Pashinyan also expressed gratitude to President Pezeshkian for his efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation and pledged to fully implement the agreements reached between the two nations.

Iran and Armenia have maintained cordial relations since the establishment of their diplomatic ties in 1992.
