According to The Iran Project, In a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and President of the UN Security Council Amar Bendjama on January 24, Saeed Iravani categorically rejected the unfounded accusations that Israel has leveled against Iran, saying they are nothing more than a pretext to justify Israel's blatant disregard for the ceasefire arrangements with Lebanon.

What follows is the text of his letter:

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Excellency,

I am writing to you regarding the letter dated 13 January 2025 from the representative of the Israeli regime to the United Nations, addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council (S/2025/28). The letter baselessly and unjustifiably references the Islamic Republic of Iran, falsely alleging that "...advanced weapon systems are being smuggled from Iran into Lebanon in blatant violation of Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006)." The Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects this unfounded accusation, which is nothing more than a pretext to justify Israel's persistent violations of UNSCR 1701 (2006) and its blatant disregard for the ceasefire arrangements with Lebanon. The Israeli regime has no intention of complying with its obligations to withdraw from southern Lebanon following the 60-day ceasefire period, as mandated. Instead, it fabricates such groundless allegations to legitimize its continued illegal occupation of Lebanese territory.

The Islamic Republic of Iran calls upon the Security Council to take a resolute stance and compel Israel to comply fully with its obligations. The Security Council must force the Israeli regime to fulfill its obligations under the ceasefire arrangements and Resolution 1701, immediately cease its violations of Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity, and fully withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon without delay. Failure to act decisively will only embolden this occurring regime to further violations and jeopardize peace and security in the region.

I take this opportunity to categorically reject the identical claims and unsubstantiated accusations leveled against the Islamic Republic of Iran by the representatives of the United States and the United Kingdom during the Security Council's open briefing on 23 January 2025, held under the agenda item "Cooperation between the UN and regional and sub-regional organizations" (9845th meeting). The attribution of destabilizing and malign activities in the region to the Islamic Republic of Iran is entirely baseless, devoid of credibility, and represents a deliberate, premeditated effort to divert attention and obscure the direct complicity of the accusers in the genocide and war crimes perpetrated by the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The undeniable complicity of the United States and the United Kingdom in enabling these crimes is a matter of record. Their unwavering support has emboldened Israel to commit atrocities with impunity. The Islamic Republic of Iran's principled position in the region is rooted in ending the occupation, establishing a just and lasting peace, and ensuring the Palestinian people's right to self-determination in accordance with international law.

I should be grateful if you would circulate the present letter as a document of the Security Council.

Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
