The Iran Project : The foreign ministers of Iran and Russia talked about the latest developments in Syria, where terrorist groups have advanced south after capturing Aleppo.
According to The Iran Project, in a telephone conversation on Saturday evening, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov discussed the regional and international issues, particularly the recent developments in Syria.
The two ministers expressed strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and backed the government and army of the Arab country in their fight against terrorist groups.
They also deemed it essential to pursue the matter within the framework of the Astana Process and emphasized the need for coordination among Iran, Russia, and Turkey as the three guarantors of the process.
The Iranian foreign minister recalled the international community’s responsibility in confronting the ominous phenomenon of terrorism.
Araqchi characterized the recent activities of terrorist groups in Syria as part of a plot hatched by the Zionist regime and the US aimed at destabilizing the West Asian region.
He stressed the necessity for heightened vigilance and greater coordination among Iran, Russia, and regional countries, particularly Syria's neighbors, to thwart this dangerous conspiracy and counter terrorist actions in Syria and the region.
