The Iran Project : Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting Syria and the resistance forces.
According to The Iran Project, speaking at a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Bassam al-Sabbagh in Tehran on Tuesday, Araghchi said they have held “very good and positive” negotiations about regional developments, the situation in Gaza and Lebanon, and ways to strengthen the strategic relations between Iran and Syria.
He reaffirmed that Iran will stand by Syria and the resistance forces and will spare no effort to assist them.
Assuring Syria of Iran’s backing against the threats posed by the Zionist regime, Araghchi said Tehran condemns any attempt at upsetting security in Syria.
He said the Zionist regime’s warmongering policies and its move to spread the war on Gaza to Lebanon and Syria reveal Israel’s aggressive nature that jeopardizes regional peace and stability.
The Iranian foreign minister called on the United Nations to stop remaining passive and condemn the Israeli crimes.
He further welcomed the promotion of Syria’s relations with other Arab countries, saying Iran urges that the negotiations between Damascus and Ankara should also be held peacefully on the basis of mutual respect.
For his part, Sabbagh said the region is grappling with problems caused by the Zionist regime’s crimes, including the Israeli strikes on Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus.
The Syrian foreign minister stated that his country would support Iran’s right to retaliation against any crime. “The Zionist regime must be punished… The Zionist occupation of the Golan (Heights) must end,” he added.
The Syria foreign minister also pointed to negotiations about cooperation with Iran in the fight against terrorism.
