According to The Iran Project, "The embassy reopened following negotiations between Azerbaijan and Iran," stated the Azerbaijani foreign ministry, as reported by the Azerbaijani agency News.Az.

"Currently, relevant measures are being taken to organize consular services at the new embassy building in Iran, with further updates on the restoration of consular services forthcoming."

“As a country of accreditation, Iran has taken appropriate measures to ensure security in front of our new embassy building in compliance with its obligation on diplomatic protection within the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations framework,” the ministry continued.

The resumption of embassy operations aims to bolster Azerbaijan-Iran relations, emphasizing mutual respect, good neighborliness, and the implementation of bilateral agreements, according to the ministry.

Relations between Azerbaijan and Iran were strained last January after an attack on Azerbaijan's embassy in Tehran, prompting Baku to close the embassy and evacuate staff.
Initial findings from an Iranian investigation attributed the attack to "personal and family-related problems."
