YEREVAN, August 1. /ARKA/. Armenia and Iran have greater potential for cooperation in agriculture, Irans ambassador to Armenia Mohammad Reisi said at his meeting with Armenian minister of agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, as reported by the ministry press office Wednesday.
Mutual efforts should be made to promote profound cooperation in agro sector between the countries, he Reisi expressed his readiness to consistently implement the agreements reached and to contribute to further development of bilateral cooperation.
Armenias minister of agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, in his turn, stressed the importance of advancing ties and increasing turnover between the countries.
According to ArmStat, Armenia-Iran trade turnover amounted to $317.7 million in 2012. Armenias exports to Iran (mainly ores, bitumen, wax, ferrous metals, nuclear reactors, equipment and mechanical spare parts and aluminum) were $97.8 million in the period.
Iran is supplying mainly oil, plastics, non-organic chemical compounds, radioactive species, fertilizers, salt, construction materials, and etc. to Armenia.
