Javier Solana to attend Rohani
An Iranian parliamentarian says former European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana will attend the inauguration ceremony of Irans President-elect Hassan Rohani.
Solana and former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad will take part in the ceremony as special guests, Director of Protocol at Irans Majlis Mohammad Yasrebi said on Wednesday.

He added that UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Kubish will also be in Rohanis swearing-in ceremony.

The president-elects inauguration is scheduled to be held on August 4, one day after his endorsement by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Chairman of the Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi Kani, Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the late Imam Khomeini's grandson Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, and Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Mohammadi-Golpayegani, who is Head of the Office of Ayatollah Khamenei, are among the Iranian officials who are to partake in the event, Yasrebi added.

He said other guests include senior authorities such as outgoing President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani and Head of Iran's Supreme Board of Arbitration Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi.

Rohani secured an outright win in Irans June 14 presidential election. The voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi said on Tuesday that leaders and officials from across the world, except for the United States and Israel, have been invited to Rohanis inauguration event.
