Senior MP: Iran's defensive power belongs to entire Muslim world

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian legislator underlined the country's astonishing progress in producing different weapons and equipment, and said Iran's defensive power belongs to all Muslim states.

"In the first step, Iran's defensive power is meant to prevent the US intervention in the region and in the second step it is meant to cut the arrogant powers' hands off the oppressed world states," Vice-Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard said in a meeting with envoys of the Muslim countries in Tehran on Sunday night.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran's defensive power belongs to all Muslim nations," he added.

Iran has always voiced preparedness to bolster and reinvigorate ties and cooperation with Muslim states, specially in defense and military fields.

In relevant remarks, Commander of Iran's Basij (volunteer) force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi announced in November 2011 that Tehran is studying formation of a 100-million-strong Muslim world Basij force.

Later, a senior aid to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution underlined the importance of forming a united Basij Army in the Muslim world, saying that the Iranian nation's Basij force can set a role model for all those Islamic nations who want to be free and independent.

"It should be believed that the generalization of the Basij model and formation and organization of the Muslim world Basijis can empower the Muslim world to conquer the world," Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei's top military advisor Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said.
