According to The Iran Project,The director general of the Ports and Maritime Department General of Sistan and Balouchestan Province said that 987,810 tons of minerals and construction materials were exported from the Chabahar Port to other countries in this period, the website of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development reported.

Given the high potential and capacity of Chabahar for harboring giant vessels with a loading capacity of 120,000 tons, appropriate services of operators and tariff incentives of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) for warehousing the mineral products, the strategic Chabahar Port can turn into a hub for exporting minerals and steel products in southeastern parts of the country, Qassem Aaskarinasab noted.

Chabahar, which sits at the mouth of the Gulf of Oman, is Iran’s first deepwater port that puts the country on the global oceanic trade route map. The port lies to the west of Iran’s border with Pakistan, about as far as Gwadar, a competing port developed by China in Pakistan that lies to the east of the border.
