According to The Iran Project,“I condemn the attack on the diplomatic premises of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus on 1 April,” Pedersen said in a statement released on Tuesday.

“The principle of the inviolability of diplomatic and consular premises and personnel must be respected in all cases in accordance with international law.”

He also urged different actors to respect their obligations under international law at a time of heightened violence and dangers in the region.

Pedersen added, “It is vital that all concerned exercise utmost restraint and avoid further escalation. Any miscalculation could lead to broader conflict with extremely grave consequences for Syria and the region.”

Israeli warplanes bombed the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, on Monday, killing two senior Iranian commanders who were on an advisory mission in the Arab country as well as five of their accompanying officers.
