Iran condemns deadly bomb attacks in NW Pakistan
Tehran has strongly condemned the recent deadly bomb attacks which targeted Shia Muslims in Pakistans northwestern tribal region of Kurram.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbaas Araqchi on Saturday denounced the incident as a heinous terrorist attack, saying, Undoubtedly, the move was aimed at fulfilling the evil objectives of the enemies of the Pakistani nation and the Muslim world.

The spokesman extended his condolences to the Pakistani government and nation as well as the victims families, calling on Islamabad to bring to justice the perpetrators of the bombings and prevent a repeat of such incidents in the future.

At least 57 people were killed and more than 180 others wounded in separate bomb attacks that hit a busy market and a mosque in Parachinar, Kurrams capital, late on Friday.

Pro-Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked militants, who are reportedly behind the killings, have imposed an economic blockade against the Shia-dominated population areas across the volatile northwest.

The frequent incidents have raised concerns among human rights groups, while moderate Pakistani Sunni groups have described the issue as a conspiracy against the country.

Shia Muslims in Pakistan say the government must take decisive action against the forces involved in the targeted killings. They also accuse Islamabad of failing to provide security for the Muslim community.

The countrys Shia leaders have also called on the government to form a judicial commission to investigate the bloodshed.

Shias make up about a third of Pakistans population of over 180 million.
