Renowned German pianist Moritz Ernst performs at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall

According to The Iran Project,In his piano recital concert, he played pieces by famous composers including German-British composer George Frideric Handel, French composer Francis Poulenc, Iranian composer Emanuel Melik-Aslanian, Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, German composer Ludwig van Beethoven, and Polish composer Frédéric Chopin, Honaronline reported.

It was the third time that Ernst, 37, performed at the FIMF. He previously attended the festival in 2020 and 2021, the former was held online due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Speaking about his presence in the festival, Ernst said: “Fajr International Music Festival is the most important music festival in Iran as different genres of music such as pop, folk, traditional, classical, and international music is performed”.

“Holding such events is very effective in connecting the culture and art of different countries,” he added.

Ernst began playing the piano at the age of five. After graduating from high school at the early age of 16, he continued his piano studies at the Detmolder Musikhochschule where he also studied musicology. During that time, he was awarded several prizes.

In 2003 he became a private student of the well-known professor for piano, Peter Feuchtwanger. Shortly thereafter his concert activities were launched with regular performances in Europe and abroad.

Some years later, Ernst continued his piano studies with Prof Jean-Jacques Dünki and harpsichord with Prof Jörg-Andreas Bötticher at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland.

Ernst is presently concertizing as pianist, harpsichordist and chamber musician performing a wide range of repertoire from baroque to contemporary music.
