The Iran Project : Iranian Deputy Industry Minister for Transport Industries says three homegrown products and five jointly produced products will enter the country's car market next year.
According to The Iran Project, Manouchehr Manteghi made the comments in a televised interview on Wednesday.
Answering to the TV anchor's question about the production of electric cars, he said, "Electrification is one of the most significant strategies of the Ministry of Trade, Mine and Industry and also one of the major projects at the national level in the country's automobile industry."
Referring to to move towards the use of electric and hybrid vehicles, the deputy minister stated, "We have been working on electrification and related technologies for nearly 10 years."
Touching upon national achievements in this regard, He noted, "Currently, we have 3 types of domestically produced electric buses, and one of them is Iran Khodro Diesel's electric bus that was unveiled recently. And shortly, 40 of these buses will join the transportation fleet of Karaj municipality."
Also, regarding electric motorcycles, a product has been designed by four knowledge-based companies, he added.
Home-built electric cars to enter market next year
Elaborating on the electric vehicles' production line, Manteghi said, "The car market will face two major events next year. Firstly, three domestically produced products, designed by local automobile companies, will join the country's market next year."
Secondly, Five other products have been jointly produced with the cooperation of domestic and foreign companies, which will be released in the country's car market next year, he added.
