Iranian film wins award at Dhaka festival

According to The Iran Project,The film received the Best Feature Film Award in Women Filmmakers Section of the festival, ISNA reported on Tuesday.

The film tells the story of a couple, who is destined to build up their life in the heart of a waste depot in the heart of Iranian north forests. They begin to make different things with the junks they find and to make friends with the other people… but what remains of the people who are determined to fight their nature?

In this section of the festival “Pasang: In the Shadow of Everest” directed by American filmmaker Nancy Svendsen won Best Documentary Award, while Gyeongmu Noh from South Korea bagged Best Director Award for the film “How to Get Your Man Pregnant.”

“The Cord of Life” directed by Qiao Sixue from China won the Best Film Award in the Asian Film Competition Section, while Jagath Manuwarna from Sri Lanka won Best Director Award for the film “Rahas Kiyana Kandu.”

In Spiritual Film Section category, “There and Back” directed by Oleg Asadulin from Russia won Best Feature Film Award, and “Kunanfinda: The Land of Death” by Hansel Leyva Fanego from Cuba won Best Documentary Award.

A lineup of 29 movies by Iranian filmmakers were competing in different sections of the nine-day film festival, which featured 253 films from 74 countries.

“Fereshteh” by Morteza Atashzamzam, “Green Plum Season” by Ali Bayat, “Number Ten” by Hamid Zargarnejad, “The Gentleman” by Hasan Keyghobadi, “Ropewalker Memories” by Hamed Rajabi, “The Leather Jacket Man” by Hossein Mirzamohammadi and “Butterfly Man” by Mitra Ruhimanesh were among the Iranian films screening in the festival.

Moreover, Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi was among the special guests at the closing ceremony of Dhaka film festival, which was held at the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum.
