Iran's Hamedan becomes the tourism capital of Asia

According to the Iran Project, Seyyed Masoud Hosseini made the announcement while talking to reporters on Wednesday.

The introduction of Hamadan as the "Tourism Capital of Asia" was announced at the "Meet-Up" meeting of the Asian Mayors' Assembly, he said.

He further described introducing the tourism capacities and capabilities of Hamedan as significant.

The tourism commission of the city council has made great efforts to introduce Hamedan's tourism potential to the world by identifying tourism capacities, effective measures, and implementing various programs, the mayor stated.

With the focus on active membership in international forums, especially the Asian Mayors' Forum, and the introduction of Hamedan as the "Tourism Capital of Asia" in 2024, this headquarters has taken notable measures, he noted.

The mayor of Hamedan expressed hope that with the close cooperation of the municipality and the Asian Mayors' Assembly, Hamedan City will be able to introduce more tourism capacities.

Adopting policies related to tourism development, giving priority to this sector, and sharing ideas, solutions, and experiences with other member cities of the Asian Mayors Forum to learn about successful experiences and approaches are among the measures would be taken by the municipality, he added.
