Raisi says hopes ties with Kuwait are further promoted under new ruler

The Iran Project : Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has talked to the new emir of Kuwait on the phone, expressing hope that relations between the two countries are expanded further under his rule.

According to The Iran Project,Raisi spoke with Sheikh Meshaal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah on Wednesday night, four days after he replaced his half-brother Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah who passed away aged 86.

Raisi once again extended his condolences on the late emir’s death, while congratulating Sheikh Meshaal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah on his new position.

The Iranian president said that the Islamic Republic’s policy is to expand relations with its neighbors, expressing hope that ties with the friendly and Muslim country of Kuwait are expanded further under the rule of the new emir.

The Iranian president blamed foreign interference for problems in the region, and emphasized the importance of cooperation among regional countries to resolve those problems and protect collective interests.   

Raisi spoke about Palestine as well, calling it the main issue in West Asia and the whole world.

He appreciated Kuwait for supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and rejecting normalization with the Israeli regime, saying that the Islamic Republic is ready to cooperate with other countries to help uphold the Palestinian rights.

Kuwait’s emir, on his part, called Iran a reliable friend for Kuwait and an effective partner in the development and progress of this country.

He also said that regional cooperation is an effective solution to the existing issues in the region and protect collective interests.

Kuwait’s emir added that his country’s stance toward upholding the rights of the Palestinian people remains unchanged.
