'Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia welcome joint investment'

The Iran Project - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian declared that Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey have welcomed a summit aimed at improving economic and commercial cooperation and joint investment.

He made the comments during a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Tehran.

Amirabdollahian highlighted the constructive conversation he had with Fidan regarding the implementation of a comprehensive plan to enhance bilateral cooperation, which was agreed upon by the presidents of Iran and Turkey in July last year.

The two foreign ministers emphasized the need to restore an existing mechanism to remove obstacles hindering cooperation between the neighboring countries.

They also expressed their desire to increase annual trade volume to 30 billion euros and stressed that transportation and transit routes should complement bilateral cooperation rather than compete with each other.

Consular cooperation, including the transfer of convicts, was also discussed, along with plans to boost collaboration in various sectors such as science, technology, industry, energy, education, tourism, and sports.

Both sides agreed that developing free trade zones along the border and connecting to Eurasia would enhance commercial exchanges.

Additionally, they addressed water shortage issues and agreed to hold further discussions through a joint technical committee.

The ministers also emphasized the importance of preventing Islamophobia and sacrilegious acts against holy books, particularly the Quran.

They highlighted the priority of the Palestine issue for Muslim countries and expressed concerns about the presence of the Zionist regime in the region.

Furthermore, they welcomed negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the Caucasus region and emphasized the need to maintain existing transit routes and prevent geopolitical changes in the region.

Regarding Turkey's relations with Syria, they believed that diplomacy is the only solution to address concerns such as terrorism and refugees.

Fidan also mentioned that President Raisi plans to visit Ankara soon for the eighth meeting of the High Council of Iran-Turkey Strategic Relations.

He underlined the important roles of Iran and Turkey in promoting regional peace and stability and praised the restoration of ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia, stating that positive Tehran-Riyadh relations have a significant impact on regional issues.
