In a message issued on Sunday, the Iranian president considered Erdogan's election victory as signaling the continued valuable trust that the Turkish people have in the incumbent president.
In his message on Sunday, President Raisi expressed confidence that relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Turkey will further strengthen during Erdogan's new term in office.
The president noted that the relationship between the two neighboring countries were based on strong historical, cultural, and religious bonds as well as good neighborliness, mutual respect, and shared interests.
The close cooperation between Iran and Turkey, Raisi said in his message, will provide even more favorable conditions for promoting peace, stability, and development in the region.
Preliminary unofficial results showed that Erdogan had won the presidential runoff after gaining 52 percent of the votes.
Erdogan declared victory in Sundays historic runoff and thanked Turkish voters for giving him a mandate to govern the country for the next five years.
