IRGC dismantles terrorist groups, confiscates arms

The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) of Sistan and Baluchestan province, in southeastern Iran, has identified and arrested bandits and terrorist groups who possessed hundreds of different weapons.

The IRGC said on Thursday that it had arrested two members of the so-called Jaish ul-Adl terrorist group who were attempting to enter Iran through its eastern borders.

Some 154 weapons and huge amounts of ammunition were confiscated in the operation and both elements were handed over to judicial authorities, the IRGC declared.

The Iranian security forces also dismantled a network active in smuggling arms into the country and captured a total of 70 weapons from the group.

Earlier, Iran security forces successfully dismantled an operative cell linked to the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group in northern Iran.

The members of the cell had planned to carry out operations in sensitive sites in the city of Amol, Mazandaran province, according to a regional commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Colonel Abedin Daghmechi.

The group had been in contact with MKO-affiliated media to create inflammatory content and make calls to action as part of a broader campaign to fuel recent riots in Iran.

The terrorists were also found to have made explosives to engage in acts of sabotage and destroy public and private properties.
