3 Persian Gulf islands inseparable part of Iran: Spox

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani in reaction to statement of the 155th Conference of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council Foreign Ministers, said on Thursday that three Iranian islands of Abu Musa, the Greater and Lesser Tunbs are forever inseparable parts of Islamic Republic of Iran's soil.

Referring to the PGCC foreign ministers' welcome for the result of Islamic Republic of Iran's recent talks with Saudi Arabia, Kanaani said that the three Iranian islands' Iranian identity, like the Persian Gulf's name are historical facts.

Turning to the Iran-Saudi Arabia agreement, Kanaani expressed hope that the reached agreement will play an effective role in boosting regional peace and development, and strengthen the dialogue-based approach in the Persian Gulf region.

The foreign ministry spokesman once again appreciated the fruitful hosting and contributions of the People's Republic of China, Republic of Iraq, and the Sultanate of Oman in resuming Islamic Republic of Iran's political relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, considering the regional countries' support for that agreement a sign of neighbors' will to strengthen the diplomatic initiatives in the region.

Kanaani, meanwhile, considered the PGCC foreign ministers' stands about Iran's nuclear program irrelevant, arguing, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is well aware of its international responsibilities and commitments and has always acted according to them, especially in case of the nuclear agreement, JCPOA, we acted according to the technical and political terms of that agreement, interacting with the commitments of the other sides.
