41st Fajr International Film Festival wraps up

Once again, the international Fajr Film Festival brought together filmmakers and movie critics from across the world as well as movie lovers and moviegoers. The 41st edition of thefestival was made even more special considering that the international section was reintegrated into the national festival after six years of holding separate events.

And for those keeping an eye on the festival, the awards ceremony was what theyd been waiting for.

This years awards ceremony turned out to be quite amusing with winners of the top prizes dedicating their awards, the Crystal Simorgh, to those who had inspired them.

In the national section, 24 movies were picked out of 87 entries to compete for the top award. What made the national section stand out this year was a whole new generation of first-time directors from different provinces across the country.

Metropole Cinema stole the show with 12 nominations and taking home the Crystal Simorgh in the most important sections namely: the Best Director and Best Picture of the year.

With all of its glitz and glamour, the 41st Fajr Film Festival has come to an end, but this time opening new horizons for young filmmakers.

The cinematic event is held every year on the anniversary of the victory of Iran's Islamic Revolution.
