Pakistan eager to boost trade with Iran

The Pakistani prime ministers adviser for commerce and investment expressed his countrys willingness to enhance trade ties with Iran by removing obstacles and diversifying the economic interaction.


In remarks at the 9th meeting of Iran-Pakistan Joint Trade Committee, held on Saturday, Abdul Razak Dawood said Pakistan is willing to expand the trade relations with Iran.

Pakistan is eager for the progress and promotion of relations (with Iran) in various trade fields, including the shipment of goods, bartering commodities, reduction of tariffs, and creation of border markets in the free trade routes, he said.

Highlighting Islamabads efforts to remove the obstacles in the way of trade with Tehran, the Pakistani official called for the implementation of plans for strategic cooperation between the two neighbors.

In separate comments at the meeting, Iranian Minister of Industry Reza Fatemi Amin said Iran and Pakistan will sign and carry out a free trade agreement within the next three months.
