Iranian and Tunisian naval officials have agreed to further tap into their maritime capacities for the transportation of goods between the two countries' ports.The agreement came on Wednesday during the third meeting of Iran-Tunisia joint committee for port and maritime cooperation in Tehran, Fars News Agency reported.
During the meeting, the two sides emphasized further development of bilateral port and maritime cooperation, implementation of the Iran-Tunisia commercial shipping agreement, and further activation of the two countries' joint port and maritime cooperation committee.
The two sides also exchanged memoranda of understanding on the sisterhood of Iranian and Tunisian ports, as well as safety and firefighting, which were decided to be signed in the next meeting of the two countries' officials.
Other decisions made during the bilateral meeting included the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the recognition of each others maritime certificates, and taking necessary measures to utilize both countries' maritime capacities for the transportation of goods between Tunisian and Iranian ports.
They also agreed to expand the cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and Tunisias state-owned shipping line (CTN).
