Somayeh Heidari the Iranian female Kurashist was defeated by an Uzbek opponent in the final lightweight -57 kg match, sufficed to a silver medal. Miss Heidari who rested for the first round, magnificently defeated the Korean Kurashist in the second round so that the Korean media would report the incident with awe and wonder.
But the accomplishments of the Iranian miss did not end up there. Somayeh Heidaris standing on the championship podium in her chador, a full Islamic hijab followed by the flash lights of the many photographerswho were recording the historic moment, proved that her shining was beyond that of winning a silver medal.
Nevertheless, why did the even not reflected in the western media and they tried to ignore the precious moment? It seems that there is a growing fear among them that Muslim Iranian women would turn into great role models for Muslims women across the world in various cultural, social, and athletic fields; therefore they have formed massive think tanks to prevent it.
For instance, Elaheh Ahmadi, a member of Irans national shooting team who won 2 silver and 3 bronze medals in Guangzhou Games, would carry a copy of the Holy Quran with her on the championship podium to object to the irreverent American priest, Terry Jones, and to display her strong belief in Islam.
