Iran ready to deliver black box of UIA plane: deputy FM

ISNA Iranian deputy Foreign Minister for International and Legal Affairs, Mohsen Baharvand stressed that Iran is ready to deliver the black box of Ukrainian Boeing 737 for decryption to close the case with the participation of other countries.

According to newly received reports, technical investigations in Iran are on their final stages and there is no ambiguity, we know what happened, Baharvand said.

Analysing the planes black boxes is the only remaining step in the investigation. We do not believe the black boxes contain any important information that will be useful to our investigation, he added.

We are in bilateral talks with Ukraine as the country to which the plane belongs and we are ready to hold negotiations with other countries including Canada in this regard, the diplomat stressed.

According to our investigations, Iran, Ukraine, and many other countries are not able to decode the black box due to the aircraft's modern technology. Iran can deliver it to a French or any other foreign company with the required technology for its decryption but we have to make sure that there are no risks of abuse of the black box, Baharvand went on to say.

Negotiations with Ukraine on transferring the black box to its accorded destination for decryption are underway but not finalized, he said.
