Tehran probing expulsion of Iranians from UAE: Araqchi

Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Araqchi says the Islamic Republic is seriously following up on the expulsion of Iranian nationals from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
On Sunday, Araqchi said a number of foreign nationals have been expelled from the UAE following a decision by the Emirati Interior Ministry to apply some changes to the Persian Gulf states population of foreign nationals.

According to a report published by ISNA News Agency on Saturday, over the recent months, Abu Dhabi has revoked the residence permits of tens of Iranians, some of whom had been living in the country for 25 years, and forced them to leave the Arab state without providing any reason.
Araqchi said, The issue is being seriously pursued by the Foreign Ministry as well as the Iranian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
The Iranian diplomat further described as inaccurate media reports about the expulsion of over 100 Iranians residing in the UAE, saying accurate information was not yet available in this regard.

According to Araqchi, the situation of Iranian nationals living in the Arab state will be discussed during the Iran-UAE Joint Consular Committee meeting, which is scheduled to be held after the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

On Saturday, Vahid Ahmadi, a senior Iranian legislator, also criticized Adu Dhabi over the move and said the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee would be carrying out an investigation into the case.
