Iran auto output down 32.5%

Financial Tribune - During the month ending April 17, Irans two major automakers, Iran Khodro and SAIPA, produced 22,998 passenger vehicles, which are 11,110 less than their output a year earlier

Irans automotive output declined by 32.5% during the month ending on April 17 compared to a year earlier.

According to a report published by Irans Securities and Exchange Organization on Codal.ir, the semi-state Iranian automakers, Iran Khodro (IKCO) and SAIPA, produced 22,998 passenger vehicles during the month, which is 11,110 less than their output a year earlier.

Besides passenger vehicles, IKCO manufactures commercial vehicles, including vans, pickups, trucks and buses. However, during the period under review, IKCO halted the production lines of several models of commercial vehicles.

IKCO did not release data on the production rate of commercial vehicles and buses.

SAIPA, IKCOs competitor, produced 7,304 vehicles in the month, marking a significant decline of 60.5% year-on-year, which amounts to 11,141 fewer cars.
