An Iranian lawmaker says the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee will pursue the expulsion of Iranian nationals from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Vahid Ahmadi, a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, on Saturday criticized the UAE for the expulsion of Iranian nationals residing in the Arab country without providing a reason.
This measure [taken by UAE authorities] is currently under investigation by relevant officials and naturally the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee will ... investigate the matter, Ahmadi said.
According to a report published by ISNA on Saturday, over the recent months the UAE has revoked the residency of tens of Iranians, some of whom had been living in the country for 25 years, and forced them to leave the United Arab Emirates without providing any reason.

Figures released in 2008, according to the ISNA report, showed that some 500,000 Iranians were residing in the UAE and that thousands of Iranian companies were also working in the country.

In a meeting with UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid in April, Irans Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar had criticized the UAEs expulsion of Iranians from Dubai.

He said that the move would not have a good impact on bilateral relations between the two countries.
