Financial Tribune - All Iranian airports will be equipped with Integrated Flight Plan Processing System (IFPS) by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2020), says the director general of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company's Air Traffic Control Bureau.
Masoud Nikbakht also told the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development's news service that the system has already been launched in several airports across the country, including Mehrabad International Airport, Imam Khomeini International Airport, Yazd Sadouqi International Airport, Bandar Abbas International Airport, Abadan Airport, Isfahan International Airport and Mashhad International Airport.
The system is a centralized flight planning, processing and distribution service responsible for the reception, validation and distribution of flight plans.
IFPS ensures the compliance of flight plans with the format and data conventions, and carries out completeness and accuracy checks.
According to Nikbakht, the launch of IFPS is necessary for implementing Air Traffic Flow Management.
ATFM is an enabler of air traffic management efficiency. It contributes to the safety, cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability of an ATM system. It is also a major enabler of global interoperability of the air transport industry.
