TEHRAN,July. 1 (MNA) The Phoenix Suns have waived Hamed Haddadi, paying him $200,000 rather than letting a $1.4 salary for 2013-14.Haddadi was acquired February 21 along with a second-round pick from the Toronto Raptors for Sebastian Telfair.

Haddadi appeared in 17 games for the Suns averaging 4.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 13.8 minutes per game.

The 7-2 center became the first Iranian-born player in NBA history when he made his debut with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008-09.
Haddadi, who played his first four-plus seasons with the Grizzlies (2008-13), was part of the Jan. 30 trade between Memphis and Toronto that sent Rudy Gay to the Raptors.
