MNA � A spokesman of the UK Foreign Office has told Iranian media that his country does not support the US imposition of sanction on top Iranian diplomat Zarif.

Speaking to IRNA news agency on Friday, a spokesman for the UK Foreign Office stressed the need for holding the door open to diplomatic channels amid rising tensions.

Meanwhile, the European Union said on Thursday it regretted the US Wednesday decision to impose sanctions against Iran�s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and vowed to continue working with him despite the sanctions.
